A couple weeks back I was trying to find free MIDI filessimply to try out a couple different plugins and see how they worked.

Needless to say, it took me a lot longer than expected sincemany of the sites I found either wanted me to register, pay, or jump throughloads of other hoops in order to download just a single MIDI file.

This is why I took some time to research the best websitesthat allowed me to download MIDI files completely for free.

Now, so that you don’t have to go through the same ordeal asme, here’s a list of the best websites where you can download free MIDI filesand loops.

BitMidi.com

BitMidi is probably the best-known website to download FreeMIDI files.

They have loads of songs in a wide range of genres; Fromelectronic all the way to classic.

If you’re looking for the themes of any Nintendo game likeMario, or for songs like bohemian rhapsody, Africa by Toto, the themes ofalmost any movie or TV Show, BitMidi has got you covered.

In fact, they provide over 110.000 MIDI files which werecurated by volunteers around the world.

You can play the file right there on the website to check ifit’s really the one you’re looking for and then simply download it with oneclick… It’s that easy.

No registration- or jumping through any sort of hoopsrequired.

Additionally, there’s no limit on the number of files youcan download each day.

Check out BitMidi.com here.

MidiWorld.com

MidiWorld is very similar to BitMidi in the sense that youdon’t need to register in order to download the files and they don’t put alimit on the number of files you can download.

The Website looks a bit old, but it works just fine.

The only downside is that you can’t play the files beforeyou download them.

Now, MidiWorld has mostly classical and Jazz MIDI filesavailable which are all from the public domain, meaning that none of thosefiles have copyright.

However, this means that these files tend to be pretty old.

Still, it’s a fantastic resource which you should definitelycheck out.

Check out MidiWorld.com here.

FreeMidi.org

This website offers over 25.000 MIDI files…

And since most of them were created for commercial material(Video games, commercials, etc.), this means that you won’t be able to find thefiles available on this website almost anywhere else.

You can download both the MIDI and the MP3 file, which isconverted directly from the MIDI, as well as play it directly from theirwebsite to find out how it sounds.

It even has a “Request MIDI File” rection where you canrequest a file that’s not already on the website.

Check out FreeMidi.org here.

Carlo’s Midi

Carlos is the man behind this website and he creates all theMIDI files himself.

He even goes as far as to let you request files and he willtry to make it for you.

You will be surprised by the huge number of free MIDI fileson his website, especially considering that it’s just a single person creatingthem.

Just like BitMidi and FreeMidi.org, you can play the filedirectly on the website to see how you like it.

The downloads are completely free and you don’t need toregister or anything.

My recommendation here is for you to get something like the M-Audio Oxygen 25 MK IV MIDI Controller which you can find at Amazon at a very affordable price, plus it comes with some extra software like Pro Tools First.
