Download and install the latest drivers, firmware and software. I am using that Dell U2718Q display with my 2013 Mac Pro with virtually no issues. Just use Dell's Mini DisplayPort cable to displayport and make sure Dell is set to DP 1.2. I also own the late 2013 rMBPro 15 inch and have not tried the Dell but I'm sure it will work just as good as my Mac Pro. Maybe not at 60 hz but 50 but would be fine. Dell U2718q Driver For Mac Windows 10
I've got a Dell P2217 monitor and I'm trying to connect a Macbook to it from the laptop's HDMI output to the monitor's HDMI input. I've tried it on two different Macbooks, but the monitor says it's not receiving a signal. I've tried holding the power button on the monitor for 10+ sec with everything unplugged and resetting the macbook settings (command-option P R). I haven't tried another HDMI cable, so that could be the issue, but are these even compatible to begin with?
